Hello, nice to meet you!
I am Alex from the Netherlands and I hope you will be a regular visitor of my blog.
First let me tell you about me! You’ve got my name already, so I will not say that twice.
I am born in Amsterdam in 1982 on the 11th of February. I can’t remember anything of my birth, but I think my parents were happy at that moment ![]()
From the beginning of my life my parents took me to forests and other places with beautiful nature. I think then I learnt a little that respect towards living things was a good thing. I have always had the feeling that I have to do something for nature and animals. When I was young I had to do a presentation at school. I had to choose the subject myself and I choose to do it about Greenpeace.
Later when I was 10 years old or something.. maybe 11 years old I don’t know exactly I went vegetarian, because I didn’t want to eat animals again. I almost didn’t eat meat things at that time so it was not difficult to stop with it. For many years no one told me more about how animals are kept and used for other products, but then I met vegans on the Internet and then I went vegan too!
Work
I have my own company. I called it Treehugger ![]()
I offer all kind of services. Most of them are related to computers and internet, like (web)designing, programming etc.
This year I will start veganhosting.net. It will be available first for the Netherlands, but soon afterwards I will offer this also for the rest of this world
Activism
I’m an activist. An animal rights activist mostly. I’m the coordinator of the animal rights organisation Bite Back. Bite Back is active in Belgium and The Netherlands.
Besides that, I am also a board member of the Dutch Vegan Society and I am a volunteer for the Party for the Animals (a political party for animals in the Netherlands).
Hi Alex,
Nice weblog. It’s so cool that you got interested in animals and nature at such an early age, and put your feelings into action. I wish I had become a vegan much earlier than I did.
I don’t know any vegans in real life, only from the internet.
Keep on writing.
Z
